The 4th March 2020 will be the first celebration of the World Engineering Day which was adopted by the 40th General Conference of UNESCO in November 2019.
UNESCO in collaboration with the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) have planned a conference on the essential contribution of engineering to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Water, Energy, Sustainable Infrastructure and Innovation. Engineers and engineering are indeed crucial to address the effects of climate change and to ensure sustainable development.
Engineers not only work on the development of resilient infrastructure to withstand extreme weather conditions but also implement design concepts to achieve the targets of the COP21 for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Prodesign’s MEP engineers also strive to design energy efficient systems and to include sustainable and green concepts into our designs. The celebration of World Engineering Day is also to promote engineering as a career. As stated by WFEO: “If you want to change the world for the better, become an engineer.” At Prodesign, we are proud to have 18 qualified engineers among us from different disciplines: mechanical, electrical, mechatronics and chemical engineering.
