The renovation of the existing Plantation House, a landmark 5-storey building situated next to Weal House at Duke of Edinburgh Avenue, Place D’Armes, Port Louis underwent a fast expansion in the banking activities of the ABC Group.
The MEP Consultancy works consisted of the modification and alteration to the basement, all floors and the roof to accommodate the new office spaces for ABC Banking staffs and our M&E Engineers also undertook the ancillary works. Our MEP consultancy services also extended to the refurbishment of the front external façade so as to align with the existing Weal House façade. We also provided MEP design services for a new lift with a greater carrying capacity.
The renovation of an existing building comes with some challenges. For this project, our team of MEP Consultants and Project Managers managed to work around certain complexities and propose the right solutions to our client, such as:
- New access opening on each floor level were provided to interconnect Weal House and Plantation House.
- Re-shuffling of departments were effectively planned with the Client to reduce downtime, and temporary workstations were made available for the staffs.
- For four months, despite the continuing activities at Weal House, minimal disruption was caused. Certain on-site tasks were carried out overnight and during weekends.
- The client had requested the openings of the building to be fixed with performance glazing in order to dissipate heat and reflect direct sunlight during working hours and this was effectively implemented.
