Bank One is a fast growing commercial bank, with branches in many major towns and villages in Mauritius. Its main server room needed upgrading to support its growth and future development plans.
The existing sever room was in a crowded office area, with little space for adding new racks. The server room had to be extended into adjacent office space, which required significant demolition works.
The challenge was to carry out all demolition and construction works whilst maintaining server operations, all within a very short time-frame. Prodesign engineers surveyed the building to identify all the risks associated with this expansion beyond the wall of the server room, and proposed mitigating measures, including re-routing of water, sewer and waste pipes, chilled water pipes and some electrical cables.
Acting as project manager, Prodesign co-ordinated the works of the building contractors and MEP contractors and suppliers, which were mainly carried out at night. Most of the testing and commissioning sessions were also conducted late at night.
The transition was carried out smoothly and works were completed on time and within the budget allocated in 2014.
